The size guide for selecting your motorcycle jacket

Finding the right size motorcycle jacket is very important to be able to ride the motorcycle comfortably and safely. By comfortable we mean that the motorcycle jacket should not be too big, so that it will flutter in the wind. It is also important that the jacket is not too small so that you will experience inconvenience while driving, we naturally want to keep all our attention when participating in traffic. By safety we mean that the protection only has value if it is in place during an accident. For this reason, it is important that the shoulder, elbow and possibly back portector are properly in place, especially in the sitting position you assume on the bike. In general there are 2 types of motorcycle jackets, by which we mean motorcycle jackets made of textile and motorcycle jackets made of leather. Below we explain what you should pay attention to with regard to size.

The correct fit of a textile motorcycle jacket
When choosing a textile motorcycle jacket, it is very important that you know in advance how you will use the motorcycle, we mainly mean in which weather type. If you also drive the motorcycle in winter, it is the intention that a layer of clothing fits under your motorcycle jacket, even when all the linings are in the jacket. If you only drive in good weather (summer / mid-season), then the jacket with lining and all may fit nicely because you will most likely rarely use the thermal lining. A textile motorcycle jacket did not stretch, so it should feel comfortable immediately when putting on. Make sure that the protection is around the correct joints and that they also remain in place in a sitting position.

The correct fit of a leather motorcycle jacket
Where a textile motorcycle jacket should be comfortable in the beginning, a leather motorcycle jacket should feel a bit too tight in the beginning. Under a leather motorcycle jacket we only wear a layer of thermal clothing or something else thin. Leather has the property of stretching and conforming to the shape of the body. Keep in mind that a leather jacket can stretch up to half a size during the time you wear it. Of course there is a difference between sporty jackets and more casual jackets. Sports or racing motorcycle jackets must fit very closely everywhere, where a casual or tour motorcycle jacket can be a bit more comfortable from the start.
