Tech-Air 5 airbag

The Alpinestars Tech-Air 5 motorcycle airbag upgrades your personal protection to the highest level. This standalone airbag vest is an add-on to your motorcycle gear. You wear it under your jacket, after which 6 sensors watch over your safety. Because it works independently, there’s no need to connect it to the bike. The Tech-Air 5 vest is compatible with all motorcycle jackets*, including those from other brands.

The Tech-Air 5 airbag is suitable for both street riders and track riders. Using the Tech-Air App for iOS and Android, you can change settings and check status— including the available ride modes. Choose Street or Race, with the latter to be used only on a closed course or racetrack. The Tech-Air 5 offers up to 30 hours of active use per charge and recharges via USB-C.

The sensors fitted to the Tech-Air 5 communicate with the integrated computer positioned on the back panel. This sits above the standard Level 1 back protector, like a small speed hump. Its algorithm analyzes data in milliseconds. If a fall or crash is detected, the airbag deploys in no time—within 25–40 ms.

Coverage of the Tech-Air 5 airbag includes the back, ribs, and shoulder blades. According to Alpinestars, its protection is equivalent to wearing eighteen Level 1 back protectors. This significantly reduces the risk of fractures or worse in the event of a crash. After activation, the Tech-Air 5 must be serviced before it can be used again.

The Tech-Air 5 is made primarily from mesh textiles to minimize any impact on airflow inside your motorcycle jacket. A LED panel at the lower front lets you check the vest’s status at a glance.

* Note: It’s important to have 4 cm of clearance around your torso between your body and the motorcycle jacket to allow the airbag to fully inflate.
