What are the benefits of a Gore-tex jacket?
High-quality membranes have been developed for the motorcyclist who uses his motorcycle clothing intensively, or who rides through all kinds of weather every day. GORE-TEX is at the forefront of developing high-quality and durable membranes. The properties of the GORE-TEX® membrane at a glance: permanently waterproof, very good breathability, extremely cold-resistant and particularly kink-resistant.

The secret of a GORE-TEX membrane
The secret to GORE-TEX clothing lies in the revolutionary two-component membrane. The stretched PTFE portion of the membrane contains more than 1.4 billion microscopic pores per cm2. These pores are about 20,000 times smaller than a drop of water, but about 700 times larger than a molecule of water vapor. Water in liquid form cannot therefore penetrate the GORE-TEX® membrane, but water vapor (perspiration) can easily pass through. The result is a completely waterproof, windproof and highly breathable membrane. In the winter you have warm motorcycle clothing and in the summer airy clothing.

Maintaining GORE-TEX motorcycle clothing
Motorcycle clothing with a Gore-Tex membrane can be washed in the washing machine. In any case, you should do this every two years to prevent blockages in the membrane. If the waterproofing does not work properly within a short time, it is best to wash your Gore-Tex product first. Protection should always be removed before washing.

Use a special detergent suitable for Gore-Tex products. Products such as fabric softener or stain remover can damage the membrane! Minimize the spin cycle, e.g. use the wool wash program. When your clothes are dry, put them in the dryer for 20 minutes to restore the waterproofness of the membrane. If you don't have a dryer, you can iron the garment with a towel (low setting, no steam). Then use a textile impregnation spray to keep the outer layer dirt and water resistant.
