The Alpinestars Tech-Air Race airbag vest is the latest innovation from the Italians in the field of safety. The first autonomous motorbike airbag system that after years of development provides the sporty street and track rider with maximum safety. Suitable for Alpinestars Tech-Air Race compatible motorbike jackets and suits and can be worn on all types of motorbikes without any additional equipment. Moreover, the Tech-Air system is invisible because it is zipped into the jacket.

The Tech-Air Race airbag vest is easily installed into a compatible motorbike jacket. Just zip it in, attach the Velcro and plug it in. By flipping the main switch and zipping up the jacket, the system is activated and the status can be seen on the LED indicator on the left sleeve.

Once charged and installed in the motorbike jacket, the Tech-Air vest has an active life of 25 hours. Charging is done via micro-USB and takes a total of about 4-5 hours, after one hour charging about 4 hours can be driven. As soon as the LED indicator shows 'green light', you are ready to go.

The four sensors (1 gyroscope, 3 accelerometers) measure continuously to nip a collision or slip in the bud. Because they are integrated in the airbag vest, it works without installing anything on the motorbike. This also leaves you free to ride any bike you want. In Street mode, the system detects an accident within 30-60 ms and deploys fully within 25 ms. In Race mode the system deploys in 45 ms and can deploy 2 times because in Race mode one air cartridge at a time is used.

The Tech-Air Race airbag vest is like a back protector in which the complete airbag system with sensors and electronic module is housed. This back protector is CE level 2 certified and when unfolded, the motorbike airbag protects the entire upper body. The chest, shoulders, back and hips are covered as the system remains fully inflated for 5 seconds after a crash.

The Race airbag vest is programmable in two driving modes. One for circuit use and one for street use which takes account of different conditions. For example, the vest uses one air cartridge at a time in the race programme, allowing it to deploy twice. In the case of the street programme, however, both patterns are used. The programme can be changed from Race to Street and vice versa using the Tech-Air Connect software.

Once the airbag vest has been deployed, it can be returned to a Tech-Air dealer. Alpinestars will then replace the air cartridges, do a general check-up and replace the airbag itself. In doing so, the data collected from the crash will be read out.

The Tech-Air Race vest is easy to install and can remain in the motorbike jacket, also for charging. The stretch material alternated with Polyfabric creates a pleasant comfort. By the integrated kidney belt in the vest the weight is distributed and you are sure of the right fit.
